This quote means that if your "friends" tell you to do something wrong, you be the one to say that its wrong and not do it even if your the only one that thinks that. It also means to be a role model for someone else so they could follow what you are doing. An example of this quote is if your "friends" tell you to try drugs with them do the right thing and tell them it is wrong and you shouldn't do it. Another example of this is if your friends are telling you to steal something from the store. If your friends don't agree with you that something is bad and they want to do it anyway then maybe they aren't real friends, which means you should go find new friends that will not be a bad influence.
